She started her firm when she was older, and it caused her to have a culture that was not very corporate. The hours are flexible, though they cannot wear pajamas to work. She attracts the ones that don't fit into more corporate environments, and she gets the cream of the crop. About a quarter of the staff are minorities, which Carol feels gives her an advantage in the marketplace.
