Accessibility 2025: UC Berkeley – Equitable Campus Planning, Universal Design
This video course includes English language captions and a downloadable transcript.
This 90-minute course focuses on accessibility and Universal Design solutions at the University of California, Berkeley campus. UC Berkeley’s Campus Architect, UC Berkeley’s Manager, Physical Access Compliance at UC Berkeley, and principals from Leddy Maytum Stacy Architects and Sasaki Associates discuss how the campus developed and implemented a human-centered approach to provide equitable physical access to buildings and amenities on a hilly site.
The presenters take a series of deep dives into how they created accessible pathways and barrier-free connections while harmonizing with the historic nature of the campus. They conclude their presentation with specific recommendations for educating architects and other design professionals about designing equitable, inclusive and accessible spaces.
